My favorite holiday is the celebration of the new year! I love the sense of wonder and excitement as we look forward to what is ahead. New beginnings and intentions are set into motion as we all leap into the unknown. What a wondrous occasion!
Every year, rather than making a resolution, I sit down and write an intention and title for the year to come. Last year, this is what I wrote:
“It is when we suppose that we hurt the most.
So with a breath of relief, just be in your own truth and leave those that love you to be in their own.”
I titled 2018 ‘Truth’ and dove right in with my written intention. However, as it tends to go with new year’s exclamations, it didn’t take long to forget my intention and title. What’s interesting though, is that it did stick with me subconsciously. I can see now, looking back, how this intention truly framed my entire year. I have never been more thoroughly and undoubtedly honest with myself and those around me. Never have I held more compassion and understanding for those in my life. My relationships flourished this year by having the subconscious mindset of living my truth and honoring the truths of those around me.
So, now that I’ve been able to reflect on 2018’s title and intention and see how I manifested and fulfilled it beyond my own consciousness, it’s frustrating to try to come up with something equally grand and moving for 2019…
I’m sitting here, in front of the computer, staring out the window, trying to conjure some fantastic, epic ideal and…
We can not know the unknown nor be certain of our discovered truths. We can only bare faith that what we believe will carry us forward.
Belief that is not based on proof. What a tricky thing faith can be. The ideal of believing in something or someone solely based on the desire to do so. That is what I want to expand on and set my intentions to for this new year. Having faith and not dwelling on my own eagerness to know what is unknown; to control what is uncomfortable; to set limitations before experiences.
2019: my year of ‘Faith’.
What are you thoughts, intentions and/or resolutions for 2019? What do you hope to accomplish this year? What can you bring with you from last year that will help you achieve the intentions and hopes you have for 2019? I’d love to know!
